Location / About us

Allambee Camp is situated in the West Gippsland Region, an easy 130 km drive from Melbourne CBD (115 km on M1 Monash Freeway and 15 kms from the well known village of Yarragon). A truly unique and peaceful location atop the Strzelecki Ranges! Allambee Camp is set on nine acres, with the addition of 40 acres of forest to explore.

Allambee Camp operates as a fully accredited camp with a maximum capacity of 100 beds. The SOLE USE of the camp is guaranteed. The business is family owned and a quality, affordable, friendly and personal service is assured whether in terms of accommodation, catering or program and activity assistance.

The camp mainly hosts and caters for school groups, school retreats, youth groups, staff retreats, church and family groups, social and sporting clubs. Do not hesitate to contact the owners if you would like to organise wedding or birthday parties, seminars and conferences, getaway weekends or fun days.


Catering


Fully catered groups enjoy three home-cooked meals a day, plus morning tea, afternoon tea and supper. Barbecue meals, picnic meals, excursion lunches or camp-out provisions are also available. Special dietary needs can be met with prior notice. Tea / coffee making facilities are available 24 hours.

Self catered groups have access to a fully commercial kitchen with dishwasher, cool room, freezer and storage.


Accommodation & facilities


Allambee camp has a maximum capacity of 100 beds in 3 separate lodges. The main lodge accommodates 63 in 7 different rooms, including separate 3-4 bed rooms for teachers/leaders. The two smaller lodges accommodate 17-20 in 3 different rooms, again with separate rooms for teachers/leaders. Bed / bathrooms are under the same roof. Indoor facilities include a comfortable recreation / meeting room with projector, DVD, VHS, TV and whiteboard. A large recreation building can be used for ball games, table tennis and other activities, especially in wet weather.

The kitchen and dining room are separate from the bunkhouses and include an outside barbecue are. The spacious exterior dining area offers the opportunity of enjoying meals outside.


Activities


Allambee Camp gives you plenty of choice for outdoor activities within safe boundaries. All activities are not far from the main buildings and easily accessible. Our outdoor activities include abseiling tree, archery, billy carts, bouldering wall, bush walking, camp fire, dangle duo, flying fox, games, giant swing, hut building, initiative course, low level ropes course, orienteering, photo trail, raft making, reflector trail, swimming and vertical playpen. The highly specialised activities such as flying fox, giant swing, vertical playpen, dangle duo and abseiling tree are at all times conducted by qualified activity staff. Enjoy our free time activities at your leisure: Basketball, bocce/bowls, swings, table tennis, trampoline and volleyball.

Our comprehensive information kit supplies you with everything you need to know about Allambee Camp. We help you setting up an activity program to suit your needs and our qualified and friendly activity staff accompanies you throughout your stay.


Wheel chair access, awards & accreditation

Wheel chair access and facilities for the disabled are provided. Allambee Camp just recently won the "Business Excellence Award for Good Access". Other awards won by Allambee Camp are: Best New Business Award, Adventure Tourism Award and Camping and Caravan Tourism Award.

The Accreditation by the Australian Camp Association was renewed in February 2008 and ensures safety as well as quality standards. The activity equipment undergoes yearly external inspection.

Improved child protection measures
The Australian Government has appointed a specialist in child protection to investigate ways to improve information sharing within and between jurisdictions as part of its National Child Protection Framework.
