As a brief overview, Rawson Village is located in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, an easy 1¾ hours drive east of Melbourne, near the historic gold-town of Walhalla, the Thomson River and the mighty Thomson Dam. Set on 15 acres of bush-land and native gardens, with three separate function rooms, it is the ideal location for weekend bed & breakfast getaways; scenic tour groups; school & music camps; family group stays; church retreats; corporate conventions and team building retreats; weddings or any other group activities. Rawson Village is the perfect base for exploring the Walhalla and Mountain Rivers region. The area around Rawson is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. Walhalla has a great deal to offer - a trip on the historic Walhalla Goldfields Railway, experiencing living history with a journey down the Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine, trying your hand at panning for gold, exploring the historic buildings or simply admiring this unique town. You may prefer fishing, ornithology, swimming, painting the wonderful scenery, rafting, canoeing, fishing or bushwalking. Or maybe it's just sitting back quietly and relaxing in the fresh mountain air and doing absolutely nothing. Rawson Village awaits you. Mt. St. Gwinear is only a 25 minute drive from Rawson. Here, during winter, it's the perfect place to enjoy the snow. Toboggans can be hired locally and there are plenty of safe, flatter areas for the serious building of snowmen! Our accommodation is wheelchair friendly with several rooms/bathrooms fitted out for disabled access. We also have 3 conference/meeting rooms of varied sizes to meet the needs of our clients. *Check In time is 2.00pm unless otherwise pre-arranged. Check Out time is 10.00am* Motel Rooms: Our AAA Tourism Rated 3½* motelaccommodation comprises of 20 rooms, each fully linened and with their own private ensuite, colour television, radio, heating, electric blankets, hairdryer, iron & Ironing board, refrigerator, tea & coffee making facilities and telephone. Lodge Accommodation: This style of accommodation provides private bedrooms, with shared bathroom facilities (separate male & female areas) within the lodge building. Donnelly Lodge includes 6 family rooms (1 double bed, 1 single bed and 1 set of bunk beds), and 7 twin rooms, as well as a small self cater kitchen and lounge area equipped with TV/Video/DVD. Coranderrk Lodge has 19 rooms all twin share accommodation (2 single beds). The lodge has a small self cater kitchen and lounge area equipped with TV/Video/DVD. There is also a campfire and BBQ area set within the quadrangle of each of the Lodges. Ensuite Bunkrooms: There are a total of 20 rooms, with private ensuites. 18 rooms have 3 sets of bunks (6 single beds) in them, and 2 rooms are specially designed for disabled access, having 3 single beds in each room. All rooms have floor heating. Attached to the ensuite bunkrooms is a large recreation/function room which can seat up to 270. There is also a large, commercial kitchen for use by self-cater groups. Beds within the Lodges and Bunkrooms are provided with blankets and pillows. Guests are asked to provide their own linen and towels, however, these can be supplied, upon request, for a small hire fee. Pleasure & Leisure Dining: Our fully licenced Bistro & dining area (no BYO) is air-conditioned during summer and, during the cooler months, guests can enjoy dining in front of an open log fire. Our Bistro menu offers a wide range of dishes to please any palette. All meals are prepared by our qualified chefs and special dietary needs can be catered for. Breakfast is served in the Bistro from 8.00am to 9.00am and comprises of: cereals, juice, compotes, toast & spreads, tea & coffee, and followed by a hot selection. Lunches & Evening Meals are served in Bistro from 12.00noon to 2.00pm, and 6.00pm to 8.00pm respectively. Picnic/packed lunches can also be ordered in the evening, for pick up the following morning. Rawson Village specializes in accommodation and meal packages, from a 1 night bed & breakfast stay for 2, to a 2/3 night catered corporate conference, or a fully catered group camp for 250+ guests over the course of a week or more. Activities: Onsite activities include: Outdoor: Soccer; basketball; volleyball; badminton; trampoline; low ropes course; initiative activities; high ropes course and flying fox. (The use of the high ropes course and flying fox require qualified instructors and involves additional cost.) We have recently constructed an obstacle course incorporating problem solving and initiative challenges. Indoor (group bookings): Table tennis; pool table; bocce; karaoke/concerts and carpet bowls. Offsite activities include: Tennis; orienteering; fishing; sightseeing; the Thomson Dam; the Walhalla Goldfields Railway; gold panning; bushwalking and swimming (either in the Thomson River or, between November and Easter, in the local indoor heated swimming pool). Abseiling, eco-canoeing, rafting, and mountain bike riding are also offered by qualified instructors at additional cost. A local tourism business also offers 4WD tours over the local terrain and historic copper mine (small groups only). For group bookings, we can arrange a programme of activities to suit, with the associated costs for activities supervised by qualified instructors. 30 kms away, Powerworks provides a multi-media centre focused on the Victorian brown coal power industry and offers tours of the vast open-cut mines in the Latrobe Valley. Rawson Village is proud to be accredited by the Australian Camps Association through the Camping with Confidence Program. Accreditation indicates that we have been independently appraised and meet the core requirements for the safe and reasonable operation of a campsite.
