Each time unprotected skin is exposed to UV radiation, it causes changes to take place in the structure of cells. Overexposure causes permanent damage and can lead to skin cancer. The good news is that most skin cancers can be prevented by being SunSmart – 'smart' with the environment you create, the schedules you keep and the behaviours you encourage. The SunSmart Program offers assistance and resources to help your school community become SunSmart and develop sun protection practices.
