Full Comprehensive Description :

What is a tabloid sport carnival?

The tabloid sports carnival is designed to engage children in physical challenges, a positive social experience, success and enjoyment. It is a sports event that invites children to experience a variety of fun activities that encourage skill and development, problem solving, fitness, perseverance and co-operation using normal & modified equipment.

How does it work?

The children are placed into groups by our consultant, and then move through a series of about ten simple-to-supervise, challenging activity stations. The time spent at each station is usually around 8-10 minutes.

Each group has between 15 to 22 children (this varies with school size, space and time available), and at each station there are double sets of equipment to ensure that all children are involved, active and are encouraged to develop a team atmosphere.

Larger groups do not mean that the children will be waiting around, it simply means that there will be more equipment for them to use (eg. we may setup two tabloids)

Parents are encouraged to get involved as an activity leader, don’t feel that teachers are the only ones able to do this! It is easy and enjoyable way for parents to become more involved with the school.

Bookings can be made here or call us on 1800 358 566

Your role as a Marshall…

The gear will already be set out for you when you arrive. Read the activity card and familiarise yourself with your activity station. Feel free to ask for help if unsure of what to do. Encourage the children to look after the gear and use as much of it as they can. When the siren sounds, the equipment should be replaced for the next group.

Organisation

Whilst you remain at the same station, the children will rotate through about ten activities. (You will get the option to change around half-way through the day.) As soon as the siren sounds to end rotation, call the children in and line them up. When announced, send them to their next station. As soon as your next group arrives, organise them, demonstrate the activity and get them working as soon as possible. Encourage co-operation, positive attitude, excellent efforts and performances. Remember you don’t need to be good at sport to be a marshal! The amount of effort and enthusiasm you contribute will make a huge difference to how much the children enjoy your activity station!

Our Consultant

  • Arrives about 1 hour prior to scheduled starting time.
  • Sets up all the equipment and activities.
  • Puts the students in teams with our unique grouping system.
  • Briefs the parents/teachers & allocates activity cards with ‘easy to follow’ instructions.
  • Co-ordinates the whole event with our P.A. system.

The School Organiser

  • Ensures that a driveway gate is unlocked if necessary.
  • Organises attendance of adult assistants at an ideal ration of about 1:15 (Parents are encouraged to get involved. We have found that the easiest way to do this is to ask one parent from each grade to come.)
  • Assists with the initial grouping process.
  • Decides in discussion with the consultant when drinks breaks are, usually at the half-way mark.
  • Organises tea/coffee for marshals (optional)
  • According to Risk Management Guidelines and due to the schools duty of care the school provides first aid if required whether the carnival is at the school or another venue booked by the school. TSC consultants are
  • not allowed to administer first aid.
  • If the carnival is being held at a park or reserve:
    - Has the council approval been obtained?
    - Will toilets and access gate be opened?

General Details

  • The carnival lasts about 3 hours, which normally includes a ½ hour break.
  • Marshals stay at the same activity, the students move on.
  • A siren signals the finishing time for each activity.
  • TSC encourages the use of weather appropriate items, hats, sunscreen, drink, bottles, coats, etc.
  • In the event of extreme heat (35°+) or a total wash-out, the tabloid will be re-scheduled to another convenient day for the school and TSC.

Payment & the GST

A Tax Invoice will be issued on the day and may be paid at that time or within 7 days. This will include our ABN and will also need your ABN included. The participation fee is $4.00 per head plus GST ($4.40 p/h in total) with a minimum free of $400 plus GST ($440 in total) The GST will need to be paid to us by the school, we will send this on to the tax department and THE SCHOOL WILL THEN CLAIM BACK THE GST COMPONENT OF 40 CENTS PER HEAD VIA INPUT TAX CREDITS.
