Full Comprehensive Description :
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a "leadership in action" program available to all young people aged between 14 and 25. It is run in over 100 countries internationally, including every State and Territory of Australia. The Award is voluntary, flexible, non-competitive, balanced, progressive, challenging and most of all enjoyable, providing an opportunity for young people to achieve personal excellence and build self-esteem, confidence, self-reliance, motivation and respect for others through their involvement in service, skill, physical recreation and expedition activities. The Bronze, Silver and Gold levels of The Award demand an increasing level of commitment and effort. To achieve an Award, a participant is required to fulfil the minimum requirements for each of the four sections. In recognition of their achievement, participants are awarded with a certificate and badge, as well as personal skills.
