Full Comprehensive Description : |
The Family Action Centre has the vision of a truly civil society, and a belief that family wellbeing is the cornerstone of healthy communities. We're located at the University of Newcastle, NSW, though much of our work on research, policy and practice has national significance.
The FAC aims to strengthen families and communities by undertaking research, training and learning; producing resources; developing and implementing strength-based programs through schools and community; and creating models of practice that promote sustainability, social justice and community leadership.
The FAC's undertaking of research has resulted in the production of many excellent resources for schools and community in the format of books, manuals, poster packs, stickers, CDs and DVDs. These resources address focus areas such as resilience, Boys in Schools, literacy, dads becoming more involved, indigenous dads strengths and much, much more.
We are self-funded, with assistance coming from the University of Newcastle, state and federal governments, private and philanthropic organisations, sales of our publications and resources, and the delivery of training and consultancies.
